my recent ebay acquisition- 21.5' loa 8.5' beam...bare fibreglass, a bit of a project for me, but can anyone tell me what it is?
cheers!

Good luck with the restoration rss,

Just an observation fwiw, beam of the boat at the waterline looks quite narrow and the outboard well has been set low in the transom for a short shaft motor, assume it was built for inland use?

Cabin area appears spacious for the size of boat.

It looks VERY much like a Mariner 16 (might be spelled Marina). It is a sea boat, but you'd be better off extending the transom to take a 20" shaft outboard. Are you sure it's 21' LOA?
The splashwell looks like a later addittion.

Nah, hull chines are wrong.

This is the Mariner 16, hence asking if he's sure it's 21' LOA.

I'd say it certainly has Marina chine lines (or a look alike?) but loa?? its a puzzle to me!

yep, o/b height appears a bit low for any original l/s outboard?

anyways, looks a good buy, hope there are no 'nasty's' awaiting you, like to see how it all goes? :)

Reading the link above, it sounds like you've uncovered a bit of a gem if she's ok. It's worth finding out the HP rating though as it'll take quite a bit to get her moving. I doubt you'll get a short shaft motor big enough anymore.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I am correct with the dimensions-I measured it myself! Have contacted Jeff Hemmings, awaiting a response.
Regarding the transom, it is 20" from transom lip to keel, so that's a long shaft motor I believe? I know it looks low, I guess it's the size of the rest of the boat scaling it. Was thinking minimum 50hp, I'm right that it's a semi-displacement hull? so won't be going particularly fast....

I had one in 1963. Its a Marina GT. I put twin Johnson 33's on it. Looks like a transom modification cock up With respect I would put it back on EBay and buy one that has the original transom and with a working steering wheel, cables and throttle levers. And as it will weigh more than 750 kilo get a trailer with brakes.

Thanks for the positive i.d.
Why do you say the transom has been 'cocked up'?
Trailer will be modified with brakes-in fact trailer repairs/modifications will be carried out before starting on the boat.
How well did it go with 66hp? I was told by the seller that the guy who restored all the GRP was intending to put twin motors on it....

Spoke to Jeff Hemmings finally. He tells me he made a Marina 21 GT to compete in the Cowes-Torquay race back in the late 60s and only made about two dozen of them. So looks like I have quite a rare boat. Would love to see a picture of an 'original' one, if anyone can find one.

Have a look here - if you watch the videos carefully you never know what you might find!

Edit: "Hum Drum" 1967 looks a possible candidate? http://www.powerboatarchive.co.uk/BuilderBoats/Misc/MISC BUILDERS (GB - I & II) (Photos).pdf
