I've never approached them to ask in all honesty and i should have,or are there other places in Poole where we can fill up with Unleaded Petrol.
I like to fill up at Cobbs but they're scrapping the 10% discount that Davis's Yard customers recieve which really will hit home hard.
So,anyone have any prices from other marina's or barge for petrol.Oh, does the barge sell snacks etc, would be nice to know should we get peckish.
Cheers guys/girls

When I had my petrols I always used to fill a couple of jerry cans up at Tesco's whenever on way to boat, if out and about in harbour used to pop round to Salterns but haven't a clue how much it is now.

They used to be one of the best. I've got an account, but recently they've become not very competitive. I last used them about a month ago, and when the bill came in it worked out at 87ppl. As an MDL berth holder I've filled up twice since then for 74.7ppl, at Cobbs. It always used to be said that CPL account holders got charged less than cash buyers. I think the barge is about 90ppl.

Oops sorry, misread your post, thought you were asking about diesel by the bridge. I'll leave my ramblings in case anyone interested.

:-) well thanks anyway, yes, preferably petrol prices yes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well i do have 3 large jerry cans which i could fill with but they're a pain and the thought of leaving 3 potential bombs in the back of my truck on a hot day doesn't really appeal /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
If anyone else knows any prices, that'll be great.
Thanks for your input thou guys

Perhaps I can be a little constructive.

I used to use jerry cans when I had a petrol boat, emptied into boat at beginning of the day, yes I suppose I had vapour bombs left in the car, but in 8 years not one one blew up.

Even the front didn't fall off (oh, wrong post again!)

Seriously, even without the discount I reckon Cobbs will be the cheapest in Poole. Don't know the figures but the barge will certainly be more, and I doubt Salterns will be less.

I asked Davis's office about MDL stopping the 10% discount and they assured me it was still going to be available. Where did you hear it wasn't?

Thanks Geoff for the update.

I had thought of chaining the cans to the trailer once the boat was off,at least the fumes will have all day to evaporate, but i'll check again with cobbs on the prices.
Si

Yes, wrong reply about the front fell off but certainly funny /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They started to do this last year. I guess there must be conversations going on between MDL and Davis's as they share a boundary and probably have to co-operate with each other.
Do you have a problem with this?

Hi.
I filled up last Wednesday and the guys said that it was a little up in the air at present due to different management or something but would probably be ok and they gave me 10% off.
I phoned and told the girls in Davis's office as we'd chatted about it and told them that they were still accepting.

I filled up again Sunday, got the 10% off but this time the woman said that it was going to stop, so get in there quick before it does.

No,no problem with it just the fact it is meant for Outlook members so whats the point of giving Outlook members the discount, why not just knock it off for everyone

The discount is meant for MDL customers so why should Davis's customers get ?

Because were poorer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif As stated, they share the same site and yes, probably help each other out so why not get 10%,its hardly a lot but every little helps.
It does look like its going to stop though which is a real shame unless Davis's can talk to them nicely.

Well the Cobbs MDL fuel berth is one mile into Holes Bay so it would get no passing trade at all. In fact the only extra boats they could attract are from Davis's.
Davis's boats are in the CQBHA so would get discounted fuel at the bridge (for diesel at least) which is sold at the same price as the discounted fuel at Cobbs so I would suggest that getting Davis's customers onto the Cobbs fuel berth would be a good idea for MDL as it would provide MDL with profit or at the least contribute towards their fixed costs. Better to sell at 10% discount than lose sales. IMHO anyway.
Agree they should sell it to everyone at discounted rates though

I know were the fuel is as my boat is on F near Peanuts, Outlook is only annual berth holders so they would get all the boats using the slipway and the seasonal berths as extra trade.

i know its not petrol but diesel seems to be cheapest at cobbs 75p with the 10%, 82p at corrals if on account and 98p at salterns, dont know about any others

STOP PRESS - the discount will continue.

Davis's and MDL have discussed this and the discount will continue on production of a discount card. It sounds as if some boaters haver been turning up and claiming they were from Davis's to get the discount. From now on no card = no discount. New cards will be issued at some point (prob next year)

> Agree they should sell it to everyone at discounted rates though

Specially so, as has happened to me, they forget to ask for the card, and you forget to tell them. Result; the full rate is charged for the fuel.

I have to agree with RIN. Better to get more trade as opposed to less. There is no passing trade except the slip, and most boats that use that slip i'd have thought would fill up at the Texaco garage just up the road.

Well done RIN for finding out, thats excellent news; I was going to give them a call today to discuss this and good for MDL,they see sense /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
