does anyone else have their cats sailing /living with them?

we have two cats that live with us that have sailed around the south coast, we are planning to go further afield and would like to know if anyone else has experience of landing in a French port. The cats will have pet passports by the time the weather cheers up, and we are ready to go. We plan to take three months off and go at the end of May

You need to be very careful that you conform to the rules of the country you are visiting and the rules for returning to the UK. For example, you can only bring the cats back via approved carriers and routes (not on your own boat) and they will need veterinary certification and worm treatment just before import. Also, pet passports do not become valid until 6 months after the initial blood test.

Fuller details are on the Defra web site and it may be advisable for you to contact your local Animal Health Office to confirm import conditions for France as well.

Thank you for the info, we suspected that it would not be straight forward, we will have to add the cost of the cattery to the trip.
