Does a Spray sail?

Or, sail "well"? I´m thinking in particular of the smaller ones between 28-33 feet, can they be expected to make any progress to windward, especially in offshore conditions.
Anyone with any experience?

No.

I've never sailed one, but I've passed quite a few. Since my boat is an elderly 37ft gaff cutter, with rather limited windward performance anyway, the fact that we always leave Spray replicas for dead when close hauled rather tells its own tale!

They all have big diesel engines, and they obviously need them.
