Dodgy Fuel Guage

I recently swithched over from the main fuel tank to the aft tank on our Broom Ocean 37 to make sure that both tanks get emptied this season. Strange thing is that the main tank fuel guage is still going down and the aft tank guage still shows full. Both engines 'missed' when I switched them over so I assume the engines switched supplies.
Anyone any idea why the main tank guage is still going down?

Could it be perhaps that the valve you opened lets fuel from the main tank flow into the aft tank whilst also switching feeds?? Could you not wait until the main tank reads empty at which point 2 things may happen, 1/ The aft guage will start to fall. 2/ You will break down due to running out of fuel and in any case you obviously haven`t been running from the aft tank fullstop.

Hi Greg. I recently posted re similar question on my F33. here is the reply i got from Julie (Powerskipper) which cleared up the doubts. - sorry, the diagram did not come over from my post. Go to my post of early July re. F33 fuel tank useage. Roy

'a/b are the out fuel lines
c/d are the return fuel lines[ only on diesels]
e/f are the cross over feed pipes.

Top pic is
normally running settings with both eng pulling fuel from their own tanks,
the valves are shown in red , " on line on" so if the t bar is running the same way the pipe is the valve is open, therefore at right angels it is off.

On this one you can see that both engines are drawing fuel from one tank and returning fuel to that tank to.

So you can see what TCM was meaning.
All sealines have this fuel line system and some other boats have it too.but sometimes not as obvious or easy to use as this set up. '

Thanks, couple of ideas - I'll have a look at the 'plumbing'.
