The time is drawing near for the fleets to move from their summer working areas to the winter sailing grounds.

Some of the operators will cover their delivery costs by getting punters to pay to crew/deliver their yachts.

This is fine for the run from Croatia (for example) to Gib. Never far from land.

But watch it on the leg from Gib to the Canaries.

These boats are probably MCA Category 2 - only allowed to work comercially within 60 miles of a safe haven.

The operator will swear blind that they will hug the African coast on their way to the Canaries but there are few havens twixt Gibraltar, Agadir and Casablanca.

You may find you have paid for a passage on a yacht that is not properly equipped/legally fitted out for the passage.
