documentation for ireland

In theory you need your SSR as Ireland is a separate state. I guess whether you chance it without the correct documentation depends on how likely you think you will be "caught" - that is asked to produce it by the authorities and what penalty they may apply. Serious no-no in France with a hefty on the spot fine, but the Irish may be more laid back.

Last time I went, about 6 years ago I called Dun Laoughaire (sp) Coastguard, Yacht sacha arrived safely from Pwllheli. As advised by Holyhead Coastguard, they came back and asked me for my radion call sign and that was it!

Does not change the law, though! Still there, even if largely ignored, which was the point I was making. Seems people have had varying experiences, but mostly supporting lax enforcement.
