Looking at ropes and came across Dockline made by Kingfisher. This is described as having a polyester braided outer sheath with a Nylon inner core and sold on the basis of hjaving a hard wearing outer sheath and a stretchy inner core. There are applications suited to polyester and those more suited to the great stretch and shock load absorbancy qualities of nylon. I have never come across a"hybrid" rope construction like this and I am not sure that a low stretch outer and high stretch inner core is a happy combination. Any views on this?

I think you'll find that it's the weave construction of the outer that enables it to stretch rather than the material itself. I've used this type of rope for warps and it was fine.
