Dockline rope

Not heard of them but a quick check indicates that it is likely to be a small (one-man company) based in a small town near Dover. Might be based in small end building which could be office cum home. Owner used to have aYorkshire connection as that's where the domain name was originally registered about 9 years ago. He says that he is a boat owner and is/was involved in IT.

I used to buy good quality rope & chain from a company down around Ipswich. http://www.mooringequipment.co.uk/ rings a bell.

I'll doublecheck to make certain I have the correct company. Don't know how their prices compare but they were much cheaper than anyone else when I last dealt with them 2-3 years ago (assuming I have the correct company).

UPDATE
Just checked my records, I think that I dealt with EYE ages ago when buying gear for my previous boat. The company I used most recently was http://www.yachtriggingsupplies.com (Grimsby)

They were pretty good on price in 2010 (e.g. 10mm chain grab hook £5.95). I see that they'd gone up a bit but still seem quite good. I was able to get a good deal on prices, P&P + other items (chain hook etc.) as I was spending a couple of hundred pounds.

Some items I bought were
50m 18mm multiplait: £98 now £110
35m 12mm braid on braid: £54 now £59

Ropeloft seem to be around £212 & £60 respectively. So looks as if it might be worth contacting UK Yacht Rigging as well. Quality of stuff from UK Yacht Rigging was fine. They have a real phone number (not 0700 type) and are a reasonable size of company in marine/lifting gear.

I did business with Joe at Ropeloft a few years ago.

No complaints at all. Nice chap. Met him when he came and delivered some halyards to me at Suffolk Yacht Harbour.

If you're worried about the quality best to have a chat with him.
