As the new owner of a Dockerell 22 circa 1985/6 I can't see any sign of an owners group. Does one exist? Are there any other owners out there who would be interested in forming one? Is there anyone there who knows much about the company?

May be attached to the Hurley people, as a number were revamped Hurley's, the 27 for certain, at one time they were made at Tavistock.

hi yorkshire,
i own a dockrell 22, i have looked for owners associations but do not think there is one, but there are a couple of people use this site that have them as i did a similar post quite a while ago, they are super little boats very thick and solid hulls ridiculously large accomadation for there size and they do sail extremely well.mine is the fin keel version and it has beaten bigger boats in light conditions and out points many a fin keeler. they are very seaworthy i have ventured out in quite a chop and they look after you with no cause for concern.
sadly i am selling mine now as i have purchased a bigger boat, but i am sure you will enjoy yours as much as i have mine

forgot to mention the dockrell 27 is tied in with hurley but the 22 is a different kettle of fish and has no link to hurly

Hi

I do not know of any owners club, I have owned a Dockell 22 for 18 years, I sail in Chichester Harbour / Solent. there are three other Dockrell 22's on Moorings in Chichester harbour. but I have never seen / spoken to their owners.
If somebody wants to set up an owners club / users group I would be intrested in joining, but as probably many others, I do not have not the time to run one.
PBO did a test report in 1980 on the Dockrell 22, Yes they were built in Tavistock, and the 22 is nothing like the Hurley 22.

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. For the record my 22 has a lifting keel plus bilge keels which is very handy on the mud here in Kingsbridge.

Hi all, I believe there is a Dockrell Owners Association - I will keep you posted when i get full details from a friend of mine. I am also selling my Dockrell 22, fin keel, (1977), due to obtaining a larger boat. It has been a fantastic boat, and fully maintained. If anyone is interested or knows anyone who is, please dont hesitate to contact me. Boat lying Solent.
