Apparently pressure washing will kill your boat.

Is it really the devils own machine?

Of course it isn't! Except on a wooden boat, of course. Nonetheless, a bit of common sense is warranted when it comes to wielding a pressure washer, a quality which some forumites believe to be absent from their less knowledgeable inferiors...

I find a hose fed brush, of the type used for commercial vehicles, is just as good on the boat. I use a pressure washer when the boat gets craned out to clen the bottom. Thats about it really.

my deck and cabin top have a non slip finish which only really comes clean with a pressure washer

I'm careful near the teak cappings though

Bottom of the range Karcher so not serious power but my view is I'd rather find the leaks and fiox them rather than pretend they aren't there

Yes, I love it! Anyone who wrecks their boat or bare feet didn't RTFM and only have themselves to blame.

Neil's vote doesnt count as hasn't left the berth in two years....

I bet he gets a pressure washer if he ever goes someplace though....

Errm.

Don't generally wash the boat at all. Apart from the odd bucket of seawater to sluice away mud from the anchor chain.

I guess black topsides had some good qualities.

Now that I have a modern-looking boat, does this mean I have to wash it? :D

Yes, carefully.

But I have fallen into the trap in the past of letting the power washer settle too long on one spot and finding that it had removed the top surface of the gel coat on the deck. The resulting small dots of black puzzled me as I tried to clean them off with the power washer only to see them grow! Expensive lesson.

They are great for rinsing and blasting out the green residue from say the back edge of steps.

Depends on the boat and the pressure washer attachment as well as the operator. Get all three wrong and ye're doomed.
Attachment = fan, not needle or wiggly needle, boat newish plastic, not wood or plastic that has seen much Sun, and operator IQ> 25.
Great for good quality carpet though (like Flotex) and propellors.

Lazy mans bucket and soap sponge?

I clean after a good rain soak to loosen without macho machine.
Love watching wheel bearings on cars getting the special attention from someone's new ( non rtfm) toy..

Mind you, hit the paddle wheel log ashore and get a mate to photograph the log read out. Phwoarrr
