You can find details of the 26M at the manufacturer's web site, http://www.macgregor26.com. Unfortunately, they do not seem to have much information about their other models online.

The 26M is a motor-sailor with a dagger board and ballast tank. This is the one that can be fitted with up to 60hp outboards and has a hull capable of planing. It replaced the 26X which has a similar specification but used a centreboard and a quite different internal layout. The 26X can also take up to 60hp.

There are also the 26C, 26D and 26S. I think that these are all primarily sailing boats and are only designed to take small, auxilliary outboards. The 26S has a centreboard (S for swingkeel) and the 26D has a daggerboard (D). You can see the secification of the 26C at http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/archives/macgregor-26c/macgregor-26c.htm.

lol

Hi
Looks like nobody has suggested the Macgregor Owners Club for info yet.
Yes, somebody loves them:D
Might be worth checking out the Mac 19(have seen a few on the market recently) as a starter boat.

thx but i think i am better off here, have to tryed talking to macgreggor owners?, you can get more sense out of a people who sail cats

Do those capable of carrying a 50/60 HP eggwhisk also have fuel tanks big enough to supply them?

And .......... bing..... The thread reverts to type. We did well there, almost a whole page of informative comment and assistance for the OP before the learned gentlemen arrive to say "nah, you don't want one of those". Serriously, I'm impressed, a whole page :D

Would you prefer petrol in your water, or water in your petrol?
I will settle for ice in my Southern Comfort.
There is a Macgregor 26 based in Sami (it's on the hard now) I have never seen it sail, they are not for me but, I would imagine you could get quite a bit of use for one out here, hopping from place to place and overnighting. Plus you could get shelter in the lee of the mountains if it blew a bit!:)
