Do you have a smallish (less than 26ft) yacht in the Portsmouth area?

It's a long shot, but...

I have a well-equipped and comfortable 42ft cruiser/racer at Gosport, but I really miss my 21ft boat, in a number of ways - mostly because I can't pop out for short single-handed sails any more.

Therefore, I wonder whether someone with a smaller yacht might like to come to an arrangement whereby we could make use of each other's boats, on a like-for-like basis. I might borrow yours for a day, you do likewise with mine...

If you might be interested, PM me here, please.

May sound daft, but...
have you considered dropping to 33-35ft ish, then you have the seaworthiness, a reasonable turn of speed, and the ability to single hand without needing tons of sea room to do it in.

I have thought about a smaller boat, but I enjoy the comfort and speed of the bigger boat for longer fully-crewed trips, and I'm fortunate to get plenty of free time in the summer to go cruising...

In fact, my own boat is no problem for single-handed sailing - it's the single-handed getting in and out of marina berths that's the problem, as with the way the tide runs through my marina, the size of the boat (and forces involved) and so on, make it unwise to try the traditional 'stick it into neutral and run forward with the warp' technique, or any of its more developed cousins...

Seriously - you could buy a dinghy/ open day boat for days on your own. I've got a pretty wooden sailing dinghy for when i fancy a change.

Not sure if this counts...
I own half a 40 footer, which I'm sure we come to an arrangement... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So ... when do I get to take out your boat then? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hmmmm. Afternoon on a 42 foot yacht.

How do you fancy borrowing my wife for the afternoon? Very good around the house.

I could then spend the afternoon on your boat with my girlfriend.

It is possible that I may have transposed the images /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Lets just hope you got the wrong images, else, given what would appear to be your taste, I cannae see a queue of folk taking up your offer!

Many, many thanks to those who replied - a 'job' last week kept me away from the internet, but I'll PM you individually soon!

Portsmouth eh?

"Here we are, in one of the most depressed towns in Southern England, a place that is arguably too full of drugs, obesity, underachievement and Labour MPs."

Boris has been at it again! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

And did you see the ST report on it? They interviewed quite a number of residents and only 1 denied it ... (I think he was the one full of drugs.. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) ... IMO Boris got this one right for a change!
