According to Torygraph the Cambridge Union is to debate this tonight. The favorites for the dunkers are
1. Chocolate caramels
2. Choc digestives
3. Hobnobs

This is apparantly THE issue of the day. Make Cambridge look even sillier than some of our postings.......

Disgusting. The chocolate melts, and what's the point of that?

Hob nobs just about OK but gingernuts are the only real choice for a gentleman and a scholar, imho.

Cambridge (and Oxford) Unions both have a long and honourable tradition of interspersing their normally heavyweight debates with the odd lighter subject. Not sure, however, that they've ever debated the question that splits the (male part of the) nation in half, namely: Kylie or Danni? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

(Edit: Beaten to it by Benbow, but he is obviously a gentleman and a scholar as well....)

Dunking is a serious artform, ones supremacy within the medium is honed through a long apprenticeship; starting out on the humble Rich tea and experiencing, and coping with, the 'drop and splosh' will, inevitably, lead you to the delicate placement and timing required to master 'the Nice'.
Chocolate covered treats have no place in the armoury of an expert dunker leading, as they do, to polluted beverages. However, gingernuts are an alternative beginners forte, time has no meaning, in the greater order of things, to a gingernut; only the first and last biscuits are of any notable challenge as they may contain fractures that will have to be countered by careful appreciation of time in liquid versus delicate handling and expectant 'drop and splosh' ratios.
Masters of the art prefer a rectangular biscuit, able to fit into a cup or mug without infringing on the sides (cheating!); malted milk being the extremes of pleasure with such a long immersion time; the thirty second dunk being only achieved by very few masters of the art:

I've no idea why it should fall to me to defend the student body regarding the primal importance of intellect and debating-skills honing that is forged in the chambers of the Oxbridge unions...

... so I won't.

Bourbons, BTW, but then I'm just an ignorant peasant.

Dunking or not, I went to Cambridge Uni and had the pleasure of going to view a night of debating at the Union Society- it was awful- full of pretentious know it alls who like the sound of their own voices. What's worse is that the debating societies are a breeding and training ground for the future leaders of our country, and from what I witnessed and in my opinion, they were not the best adjusted members of society and not really representative of normal people. The problem continues that these are the main people who actually WANT to be politicians.

This is all IMHO and by the way, I went to the boat this afternoon and it was dry as a bone with heating and dehumidifying.

Gingernuts are good for that exotic moment but for everyday dunking it has to be shortbread. I have 6 for breakfast every morning, every one dunked to perfection.

Heresy - you can't dunk chocolate biscuits.

The only choices are "Rich Tea" for tea or McVites Digestives for coffee /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
