Arrived Ramsgate, yesterday, 7PM.

Loo filthy and smelly in Portakabin on pontoons, neither urinal draining properly, one (of two) loo seats broken. Reported same to staff on duty in reception office. Reaction: "not my problem, I am seasonal staff and only take the money; tell Thanet Council .... ".

This morning, preparing to fill the water tank, discovered that pontoon filler hose had loads of green slime bits in it.

Reported all this to the main Harbour Office today ..... receptionist's opening question: "are you making a complaint, or constructive criticism ...?"

What is it with Ramsgate? Should we complain more often, and more comprehensively? Maybe we take shoddy standards too readily?

Visitors' berthing fees have gone up again, I see.

Shame about the dodgy service, which does not match the cost. Especially with Ramsgate the first port of call for so many of our friends from the Continent.

I'm sorry the facilities were not up to standard when you arrived at Ramsgate, and I am very disappointed with the response you got from our staff, it is very much our problem. You should have been thanked from bringing the faults to our attention.
We invest a lot of time and money in cleaning our facilities, and appreciate any problems or complaints being reported.
It may be pedantic, but I see a difference between a complaint and constructive criticism, and we have a formal process to go through with complaints, constructive criticism we take on board and try to deal with the issues immediately, which is why you got the response from the receptionist.
I hope next time you come to Ramsgate you will find the facilities up to standard.

An excellent idea to meet your public (I am a regular visitor and ex berth holder) and we always welcome feedback comment to know we are being listened to. I believe that this (and other) Forum here gives a fair hearing, and is a valuable tool in improving your customer satisfaction.
Well done, please join the community, I am sure you have much knowledge and insight that would be well received.

I've always liked Ramsgate, but I'm afraid I'll be motoring on past now the dog has been banned, this has ruled it out for a lot people I know. Fortunately Dover still welcomes mutts.

Sounds like the humans make more mess anyway.
