tite stops your nuts falling off
That reminds me of a story (obviously)

My Brother-in-law (who would not lie)
told me he was outside a bar watching the boats
when along came some lads in a motor cruiser
When they had stopped alongside, they all
stepped off and disappeared into the pub.
The boat slowly drifted away and had to be retrieved
and tied up. When the lads returned and were told
what had happened the retort was...............
"Can't understand that, we left it in gear"

Trago Mills in Devon - a firm founded by an idiotic xenophobe, actually has in its car park what it purports to be the anchor of HMS Conqueror, the sub that sank that Belgrano in the Falklands War. I wouldn't have a problem with that except for the crass plaque which accompanies it and the Argentinian flag at half mast. The whole scene one of bad taste. I don't really have any problem with the sinking of the Belgrano, but I do object to the tacky glorifying in the deaths of all those sailors.

When I am feeling mischievious I wonder (if and when Euros become legal tender) whether I should go to Trago and try to buy something using them.

For those not in the know Trago which is a 'pile-it-high-and-sell-it-cheap' emporium that often has the most amazing bargains - but not always what you are looking for! The owner, who I understand lives in Ireland, is always paying for advertising in the local papers in which he spouts forth on the iniquities of the Common Market/Europe etc etc.

This post in no way reflects any political opinion of mine either for or against Europe etc etc.

Just to make sure that my public persona stays firmly on the fence - and I'm not even saying which was I'm looking!

they make a big thing about the cruel EU making us sell goods in metric. personally i find a pound of spuds tastes no different to 454 grams. i always make a point of ordering in metric and making them do the conversion as required by law /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for that Chris. I hadn't thought about asking for goods in metric in the meantime.

Last time I was in Trago, I said that I was going to bring some Euros in to buy stuff and got the biggest load of diatribe from the cashier..... Evidently recruiting is done using a politics/personality test as well.

I'm normally very happy to live and let live - just can't resist with the Trago emporium though.

This accurately reflects all that is Trago Mills. The "tacky-est" places on earth. You also get some very very strange people there - present forum members excepted - well perhaps.
