<font color=blue>Strictly speaking yes but don't rush to do the job. Let your existing ones wear out first.

Trouble is how will you know when the existing ones are worn out without lifting it? and you aint gonna lift it without changing them anyway cos its a waste of a lift cost. Ehh what to do next.

For the cost of a couple of anodes I wouldnt risk it I'd change em sooner rather than later.

But beware - freshwater anodes are different alloy to sea water ones as I recall. I seem to recall that freshwater have some magnesium in the mix - and as such would waste EXTREMELY quickly in salt water. I'd pay particular care to any anodes that are part of the engines or sterngear. I know one local boat lost all his anodes and his props after just three weeks through not changing to saltwater anodes.

As always MG Duff have o be the source of all answers in this area....

Fully agree, and my point (see my post) how do you know when the're shot, two weeks maybe three weeks ?

I took my boat to salt water last July and within two weeks lifted her to change the magnesium anodes for zinc ones, good job too as the mag ones were already on their way out. Better safe than sorry.

yes

change them they will be magnesium for fresh water you require zinc for saltwater

magnesium will dissapear in salt but zinc will develop a brown skin if used in fresh water
keep the magnesium if you think that you might go back into fresh water again
