Hi, Before last season had full Osmosis treatment at reputable yard in Hamburg, Wreda which on completion included spraying on new antifouling (seajet shogun eroding). He told me that it should be enough for two seasons. The antifouling worked good with only some slime to wash off at end of season. Due to work (of course) I only used the boat four weekends!!!! so it sat still for six months. Question is, do I antinfoul this season? Does antifouling lose it's effectiveness after some time either in but importantly out of the water? If so, after how long? If I can avoid doing it I will but feel a little strange not going through the ritual of of painting the stuff on. Wot U think?

If your boat has been out of thewater you are more likely to need to antifoul than if it was left in for the winter. No specific answer I'm afraid but if she was out of the water you may be able to get it working again with a good rub down with wet and dry (used wet).
Only real way to find out is to try it and see how it performs. Alternative is to antifoul and possibly waste all that's on already.

Depends on the type of antifouling.

If self eroding (most likely) the top surface will have hardened and it won't erode.

Try a bit with a wet sponge and if the sponge is coloured you'll be OK. If not you'll be best off putting another coat on, after keying.

thanks for the input. I wiped a wet cloth over the antifouling and it came away with colour! I tried it in a few places so it seems the antifouling has not hardened. To be fair I lifted out last year in December and the was hardly used during last season so not sooo much eroding. My buddy also had the same treatment last year and he is adamant he will not antifoul so I guess all in all, I shall touch up the seacocks which did foul and call it a day. Gulp! Thanks again.
