Do I move from a Merry Fisher 755 to an 855 or wait and go bigger

Age old problem, never happy with what you've got. I'm entering my second season with a MF755. Really happy but always want bigger extra accomodation. A MF855 has come up second hand (2013) with my dealer at a good price and I'm tempted but wonder if an 855 will be greatly different or if I should hold off for 2/3 years and move to say a Prestige 36 or a Swift Trawler 34? Any advise?

Personally I'd stretch for the Swift Trawler as early as possible and skip the 855; it sounds inevitable that you will trade up at some point and it's rare not to take a bit of a bath on each trade through.

On the other hand the 855 is a very nice looking boat; still, I think that I would hold off for the larger boat but it's very hard to wait sometimes!

Nice dilemna to have in the grand scheme of things :)

I changed from 25ft to 34ft (Sealine) . It seemed a big jump at the time but very pleased I did.
Whatever you have there is always a bigger boat tempting a change. The important think is for the running costs not to exceed your financial means.

I'd wait as well. The Swift Trawler 34' is a lovely boat - like the Corvette 320 it's about the only boat you'd every really need if it suits your cruising requirements.

In my opinion if you are not specifically wanting a fast boat and are looking for something larger to cover more distance (more hours) I would skip the 855 and get a diesel powered boat.. As much as I like outboards and the performance of petrol once you reach 8M+ you should be seriously considering diesel unless you plan on not doing a lot of motoring.. Our previous boat was 8M with a 5.7 V8 Petrol and it certainly knew how to drink fuel which mean't we didn't do many long trips.. The new MF 695 we have is very light by comparison (we did about 50nm on 60l of petrol last Sunday).. So I would say wait.. Plus I really like the concept of the Swift Trawler for chewing up the miles..
