Nope. They stay put in the UK for the winter, and are joined by even more from Europe

Obviously doesn't like your string, so you'd better put some more up to make sure

He'll be back. Although I think a net is a deterrent, I once saw a heron standing on the net over our pond and poking his beak through it so maybe need a gator guard as well

If they were, they are more likely to Migrate, rather than Emigrate./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Not herons but mink

Never had any problems with Herons,
But thought we was loosing some fish from the pond, But not sure how many, cause we never knew how many was in there in the first place !

Then we got a couple of ducks to go on the pond, which soon had five ducklings,

Sitting down to tea one evening watching mummy duck and baby ducks playing on the pond,
A swirl of water and one of the ducklings was gone, caught sight of something escaping up the bank with the duckling !

My first thought was a big rat, and having a cage trap in the shed decided to set it beside the pond, Anyway every morning trap gone off no rat, this went on for several days,
"Baffling" then i spotted it one evening and got a good look , it was a mink,

Time for different tactics, baited the trap as usual, but this time lowered it on a line down into the pond,

Success, next morning hauled it out, complete with one drowned mink, Clever huh !
