I have a lovely old Danish ships clock at home, it chimes the simple system of ships bells and keeps very accurate time. We also have a chiming mantlepiece clock given as a wedding present that until the new arrival kept vaguely accurate time. Now the spooky part, I wind them up each week and set he hands to as near the same time as I can be bothered to but they both bloody well chime at EXACTLY the same time, not a bit out but both together. What's going on? Is time spiritual? Do clocks talk to each other? The mantle clock only has a 6 day spring so when it eventually falls out of sync, I wind them both and there we go again, perfectly in sync.... (cue X files music)

Could it be that the clock or watch against which you judged the first clock to be only vaguely accurate, was actually the 'vague' timekeeper? Now that you compare the old clock to the new one (by coincidental chiming) you find the first to keep good time?

They're obviously females.

It is said that group of females would eventually synchronise their menstrual cycles, so that is the horological equivalent I guess /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[/ QUOTE ] too sensible by far /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and I used to check it against an accurate watch.

Yes it happened to my fathers watch. Wouln't say it stopped dead on the exact day he died but round about then. My sister kept it all the same
