They look like coach screws - what could you possibly want to fit in a boat with them?!

That's brilliant - you could see it happening...... I'll use the really long screws to hold it better!
I once looked at a Bayliner 2455 that someone had lovingly replaced all of the Cabin formica covered timberwork with veneer covered ....... Chipboard!!!!!!!!!! To top it off he had replaced the marine hinges with plain steel hinges....... the guy who had bought it from the DIY'er was desperate to sell it before it got damp!

I posted the link to the full story in the other Caption Competition thread. Here is the explanation:-
"After yesterday's fishing trip a friend asked me to look at a boat on a work rack at the marina. He said the owner just had new upholstery made for the inside. I looked. I got sick. I laughed.
How do you describe this?
Seems the owner sent the panels, seats and bolisters out to be re-done. Then HE put them back into the boat. Used indoor dry wall screws. Long ones. Put the boat in and quickly took on water. The marina pulled the boat."
I think you will agree an easy mistake to make.

Oh what a mess.
I have watched a chap drill through a bulkhead into the back of a GPS! I thought he realised and was only sinking the drill the 1/2 inch thickness of bulkhead! He was furious with me for not saying anything, I thought that was a bit harsh as it was him wielding the drill!
