Has anyone had any success making there own wind vanes? I'm thinking espesially of the trim tab variety for transom hung rudders - a la "Joshua".

If so how satisfactorily does it perform? And how far over the stern do you have to hang to adjust it?

Thanks in advance.

There was an article in one of the mags, PBO I think, about a year ago (from memory, but could have been before then) about a guy who made his own. Quite detailed write up, and it made me think that it would not have been beyond my capabilities, should I ever need to make one.

Someone else may remember the article.

If you do a search you'll find that there have been several threads on this subject.
