The cost of replacing 2 opening ports seems excessive to me, but obviously they're well engineered. An alternative would be to make my own. I can weld, can epoxy and can cut lexan polycarbonate, so technically no real probs.

Does anyone have a plan for portholes (preferably opening) or for one of the skylights with metal bars seen on larger yachts above the 'main' cabin? I cannot imagine that it'd be excessively more technical or need to be much stonger than the timber forehatch, but I'm ready to be corrected, even dissuaded. The cabin sides are 15mm plywood, and the present cut-out holes are 318x140mm.
Any advice or ideas?
