DIY pontoon mooring in Netherlands

Hello,
i was hoping someone can point me in the right directions regarding the hoops i have to jump (if at all possible) in order to moor a DIY pontoon boat in Holland. I'm currently contemplating building an off-grid pontoon from recycled materials and ideally i would want to moor it in Holland. I travel frequently between UK (where i have residency) and Ukraine (of which i'm a citizen), and as train is my primary method of travel i end up going through Netherlands, i came to like the country and would like to spend more time there (have a place to stay when i'm in transit). I imagine it doesn't have to be a residential mooring as i do not plan to spend a lot of time there. How do i go about registering the boat (pontoon), i assume it needs to be registered. Are there any other permits that are required in order to occasionally live on it? I would greatly appreciate any help advice on this matter.

Thanks RAI, maybe barge is the right definition for what i would like. I've came across that site during my research, unfortunately can't post unless a member, couldn't find anything on registration of DIY barges there.

Hi, I’m Dutch. I don’t think I understand your question.
Are you looking for a mooring? Like a buoy? Or for a marina berth? Or a municipal berth? Or just anywhere to tie up to?

Hi Overstag,
thanks for your reply, i'm looking for a place (basically anywhere to tie up to, not a buoy as i would like to access it without the need to swim to it), but it has to be legal and preferably in a spot where people are present as it would contain solar panels and batteries and parking it with that in a desolate remote place might prove a magnet for someone to "harvest" the equipment. I do not need any services or utilities connected, and it doesn't have to be residential, as i can't see myself spending there more than 2 months in a year altogether. I do not even need to sail that contraption, although i would prefer to equip it with some sort of small engine for occasional short trips. What would you suggest for such purpose? Do i need to register it as a DIY boat with authorities, or only if i want to navigate the waterways with it?

Sounds like you are looking for a shed on the water to spend two months a year in, not even sailing it.
Can't help you there, I'm afraid. Let me say I hope you decide to do it in some other way but on the water. Your plan is likely to end in polluting our nice waterways....

We would have a better world if people reserved their judgement until they have a more complete picture of the issue. I am not actually planning on discharging a single drop of water (waste) into the environment (and for that matter taking any water from the waterways). For the last 9 months none of my rubbish ended up in the landfill, I learned not to trust authorities to do that, as it is simply not up to my standards (in pretty much any country). A high tech unit (or a shed as you've put it) actually takes care of everything, with perimeter garden serving as a final frontier for treating/evaporating already filtered water containing no chemicals that average person usually uses for their hygiene. Anyway, the reason i wrote that i do not require any services is simply because i do not require them even if they are available, not in order to save money. I do not mind paying for the mooring (that was the plan anyway), but no running water, waste collection or electricity is simply required. Its a pity it is easier for you to imagine someone dumping their waste into the waterways than using one of the many available ways to deal with the problem.

There are lots of mooring options in NL but be aware that, unlike France, you can only moor where the signage permits you to. You could contact one of the many clubs, brokerages or 'professional' marinas and start inquiring about rates - start here http://jachthavens.allepaginas.nl/ and just select the areas of the NL you are wanting to base your boat. Then move onto Dutch brokerages...

The Dutch are very proud of the boats they use and their canals and these are usually both spotless - what I think was hinted at by an earlier poster was that they would not appreciate a tatty canvas and plastic homegrown effort 'polluting' their waterways but if yours looks 'elegant' I'm sure that you will not receive any complaints.

As far as I remember, you do not have to register your vessel (under 20 meters as I recall) in NL. See https://www.rdw.nl/particulier/voer...artuig-dat-geen-nederlandse-registratie-heeft

Spot on, EU.
The OP himself talks about his boat as a contraption that doesn't even need to sail. He'l be on board on and off for two months a year. While using the perimeter garden (?) for treating "water that the average person uses for their hygiene".
We all know how this is going to be...

Thanks a lot, it is very helpful! There was not mention of a tatty shed made from soiled boards, this is all projections from previous poster's imagination (well, whatever in one's head, usually people voice their fears based on their own shortcomings). "Recycled materials" can be 3d printer plastic filament, for example (not that i would necessarily 3d print whole of the exterior).

Lack of education doesn't warrant offensive replies, i'm sure you've already learned it the hard way many times before. Read up in general, pay attention when reading posts, educate yourself, develop some healthy imagination (not the perverted kind that is demonstrated here) and stop trying to offend people based on your own fantasies. "we all know..... " - yeah, that's pretty much describes your niche in the civilized society.

Oh dear me, here we go again! New poster, yet seems quite "comfortable" here, faux outrage, etc etc.

Getting quite off-topic here, but i do not see why the fact that i'm "new" here should stop me from reacting to the lack of manners/rudeness etc. I'm not trying to teach anyone about boats/sailing, i'm here to learn (and i do not tolerate abuse silently). The "faux" part is a bit elusive, i probably shoukd just let it slide.
