I have been advised to buy budget antifoul paint (£36 per 2.5 litre) and add copper powder at ratio of 250gm per 2.5 litre paint.

Should I buy the black or the orange powder.

I think one is cupric oxide ( CUO black powder) and one cuprous oxide (CUO2 orange).

Or is there some other form of copper powder recommended.

Who advised you to do this, and why?

If doing this was effective we would all do it, and the paint companies would do it too as they could make a bigger profit that way.

Or is there something about this most of the rest of us don't know about? (BTW CopperCoat didn't work in Portsmouth harbour)

It may be that manufacturers put in additives up to a legal limit, but over the limit would actually make it more effective?
