If you’re navigating the Dart in the vicinity of Dittisham, please be aware that at least 2 of the mid-stream visitor buoys can submerge and remain hidden for minutes on end when the tide is running and with no obvious surface disturbance. One popped up in time for us to miss it but the first we knew of the second was the steel ring hitting the underside of the hull. We’re not locals and thus not familiar with how many buoys there are or their individual locations. This was a couple of days after the Spring tides, in daylight and in good vis.

Did you report this to Dart Nav? VHF C11 or give them a ring. The tides last weekend were particularly big.

Yes, reported verbally and followed up by email. A barge has been working on some of the moorings this morning. Our ‘experience’ was mid flood tide, a couple of days after Springs.
