I felt like a secret reporter for the News of The World last night. Lancaster Canal Boat club do in a posh hotel in St Annes On Sea.

It's a bit odd. One minute I'm debating whether to take up TCM's chalenge of taking his boat round the Bay Of Biscay. Next I'm talking to this lot, that dont actualy like the land to be more than three feet away.

But there a friendly lot and organise all sorts of get to gethers all along the canal.

It was quite serious at times, every one had to stand up and clap as the comittee walked in, then very solomly, grace was said before the dinner commenced. Afterwards speaches were made about the daring exploits on the canal. Awards were presented for those that had fell in, a miniture life ring worn like a medal, and cups for those who had not!!

Bloke next to me asked where I kept my boat. When I said Plymouth. He said that he had heard that there were rocks in Cornwall and he would not like to go there!!

The meal which was very good, lasted for ages but luckily a few of us smokeing lot, made a gang hut in the lounge next door, where we could sneak off and amuse each other when we got bored /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Then, just for Long John and a few others who think I look scruffy. We took some Photogirraffs and one of the little life belt as well!!

Nowt wrong with my shoes, Harrys might be bigger but not better! The comadores name was chopper if this helps. The commitee puts loads of work in, but nobody wants to join it. Sure they would do much better with a web site and do it like us where there is no work involved at all!!

for the record commodore's name is Ronnie, during the summer we went to a get together by boat where they let off rockets, they go to a huge height, quite exciting honest !

Only extracting the Michael.

Just impressed they are not Deck Shoes. Although maybe Court shoes may have been more in order. Now stand corrected on El Commodore's name .. with all those nicknames ... guess his surname has to be Harris .. (you have to be an Old Chelski supporter to get that one).

Still think the Lady is leading you astray ... you'll be buying a fishing pole next and a rocking chair I assume. Something to do on those balmy nights by England's Greatest Ditches.

your dead right, bought him the chair, he sits in it all the time with of course said deck shoes on, and yes got fishing tackle galore, but he has yet to use it.

oh and regarding hlb's picture in his black tie attire, he had slipped those shoes on the table off, so he didn't look silly in the picture.

This is not "the" rocking chair hlb with henry...
