A couple of weekends ago Fatipa claimed he was distressed sailor. Upon enquiring "Why?" he responded by saying that his pony tail had been removed. Did this really qualify him to repatriation from an alien state?

was this when in confused state? might have misheard ... could be one of 3 eg:
1. £25 sterling (we get there).
2. Rubbish, nonsense. E.g."this boat's a load of old pony."
3. An act of defecation. E.g."Is there a holding tank? I need to have a pony."
* Versions 2 and 3 are from the rhyming slang pony and trap meaning 'crap'.

hope this helps (chuckle ...!!)

Fatipa is "distressed" on account of looking a bit comforatbly worn out, greyish and used. "Distressed leather" has the same features, although by contrast, the effect is highly desirable and fashionable in that context, and with denim jeans too.

You misunderstand

No, No.

I have it on good authority that the lovely Brian was stating that he was a de-stressed sailor, after such a calm and uneventful Cherbourg-Cherbourg cruise with person or persons unknown.

PS. Is it true you've renamed your boat as GBH Rosa?

Re: Puzzled of Gosport writes ..

oh well then ... you'll appreciate more than you did the experience of NOT having self tailing winches ... if you can't get the simple kit to work etc etc ...... !

Re: Puzzled of Gosport writes ..

Oh you do'nt have self tailing winches then, I thought it was only old arkaic (sic)boats with winches mounted on tufnell that were so handicapped!
It was really a reference to the irony of Fatipa being detailed by a selftailing winch.
