Displacement of a 1970\'s Birchwood Vanguard 21ft MC

Hi,
Although not new to boating - I am to Motor Cruisers and towing.

I am considerering buying this boat but it look huge out of the water - I only have a 1.9JTD Fiat Sedici 4X4 and I am worried that this will not pull it - the owner reckons on 1 tonne.

Could someone please help!!!

Sounds very light for a 21 footer? The local guys could help you with exact weights. A 21 foot anything, on a tandem road trailer is going to be more like 2 tonne.

At the end of the day (legally) it is back to you. If you intend on towing much, make sure the trailer complies with all regs. especially brakes, and whether the trailer can legally carry that particular weight. It may have just been put on the trailer to sell.

If you are not sure, borrow a 'guru' to go with you. Even if you have to pay them for an hours work, it a cheap investment!
