I want to check the compression on my v/p 2003, but need to make up an adaptor to connect the compression guage to. Has anybody got an old 2000 series injector I could have to modify.
Mike.
Take a deep breath, and pay for a proper diesel mechanic to come along for half an hour or so. They have real equipment for this. It's quick and relatively painless. And likely cheaper than trying to rig up your own compression guage. When I eventually did it, the guy found that the compression was fine. Finally tracked my starting problem to an air leak.
totally agree, don't make a compression tester for a diesel, the pressures are higher than petrol, and it'll hurt when it pops.
a diesel mech will also have a calibrated leakdown tester, that'll provide info not only on cranking pressures but also the percentage lost during the cycle.
sorry to be negative, but if you think there's a prob with compression, get a mech in. it'll work out cheaper..... honest.
