Thank you for you kind words it perhaps in some small part explains my love of the sea.

The medal is in the Lord Ashcroft Gallery in the Imperial war museum.

My mother's parents were German. Indeed she had/has blue eyes and blond hair much like a true Arian... The family name was Schultz... During WW1 the family recognised that a name like Schultz was not good news so they changed their name to Choles.

A few years ago the last serving soldier from WW1 died aged 100+ in Australia.......... his name was Choles...
