I believe that they are not allowed to sell antifouling at the Boat Show. The cans you see are dummies.Regulations etc.Neither is it allowed on the tube.More regulations.
I bought my antifouling from Screwfix. Cheap and Easy to apply and just as good results over 6 months in the Bristol Channel as the boats around me (who paid twice the price).
But I would be interested in cheaper source of Sikaflex as I need a lot for my next boat.
Happy New Year.

spoke to a man who supplies mastics, he claimed to have seen marine sikaflex in achandlery at £12 per tube and non-marine sikaflex in a builder's merchant at under £4 a tube. now here's the catch: they both had the same batch number!!! in fact he supplied me with a generic polyurethane mastic at £3.50 a tube which has lasted at least as well as the 'genuine' sikaflex. the sikaflex 295uv special window sealant at well over £30 per tube failed totally after 18 months.
Sikaflex 291 here in Spain is just over the equivalent of GBP 5 and is the same in
either any chandlery or in the local ironmongers. It just confims the current
greed that exists in the U.K.
When will we ever learn?
Latest Screwfix catalogue (Vol 69) has antifouling paint on page 42. The paint is "Flagship", which did OK in the YM comparison tests (March 2001 issue). Screwfix price is £39.99 for 2.5 litres, with an increasing discount as the total order value increases. Discount starts at 6% for orders >£100, increasing to 10% for orders >£1000. Delvery is free for orders >£45. Screwfix, for those who don't already use them, are a much cheaper source for most of your DIY bits including SS screws, abrasives and a number of Farecla products. Undercuts the bid DIY stores (on most items) by an unbelievable margin. To contact them, try 0500 414141 or visit www.screwfix.com Hope this helps.
Just want to add a word of slight caution about Screwfix. I use them a lot, but I have found some things cheaper at my local engineering supplies place. Not everything is cheaper there & have to shop around a bit. Depends on how much you value your time I suppose.
Oh yeah - I also get better prices at the suppliers if I turn up in a clapped out white van, dressed really scruffy, clothes covered in oil or paint & winge a lot about the price - claiming I can get it cheaper elsewhere etc. Or ask for a trade discount - clothes help a lot with this!
Screwfix catalogue no D13835 is Flagship 2.5 ltr Red. They have Dark Blue and Steel White. all at £39.99 inc VAT. Less 6% for order over £100. Deliv free for orders over £45
www.marine-hardware.co.uk (Seascrew) Sikaflex 291 at little more than half the chandler price. Their main lines are stainless steel everything and their prices are very attractive.
Great link - I am never going to the chandlers again, just looked at the price of snap shackles, nearly £30.00 cheaper than off rack chandlery price. I am nearly annoyed!
sikaflex can be bought from builders merchants at a vastly cheaper price.
there is a manufacturer of a virtually identical product in waterlooville (near havant) who charges £3.50 per tube. it works just as well though turns a bit yellower with age.
