In the Med the quality of the water at marinas vary (the stuff out the hose as opposed the the stuff the yacht is floating in!). I wonder if there is a simple way of filtering the water as it goes into the "fresh" water tank?

Thanks

Use a fine wound fibre filter, from e.g. Jewsons, to take out the particulate contamination.. For other biological, chemical, colour and taste filtration you'll need a carbon, and a ultrafine filter from eg. General Ecology (general-ecology.com).

In area of heavy contamination, a couple of filters (coarse and fine) might be needed. Water in the tank can be sterilised by adding bleach, or Milton baby steriliser, if you are fussy about taste.

I have a GE filter for the drinking water tap in the galley, as you dont need to filter the washing up water !

In uk the quality of marina water varies, especially if care is not taken. Prior to your use the hose may've been lying on the pontoon gathering seagull crap, or even accidentally dropped into the marina water. When opening your filler you may allow muck to fall inside.

Best to dose at every fill up.
