the only thing i need connected/working over winter is the dehumidifier. Troiuble is, there are sometimes power-outs in the marina and that means no power till i return - it has to be reset on the boat.

So, I think i can power the dehum direct, using a variety of plug adapters to get to a small socket of course.

Any electrical problems likely with this? I may as well turn off alll electrics, foth DC and AC. This wd mean no battery charging though er also no battery usage. That's okay tho, innit? I will take the risk with having no bilge pumps...

erm, wots wrong with leaving the battteries trickle charging and running dehum from dc/ac convertor. That way batts will bridge the outages and you keep the bilge pumps going.

[/ QUOTE ] Cos if they get a powerout the power circuits need resetting manually on the boat ... so he'd end up with flat batteries quick!

TCM - I can't see any particular problem, I would probably make sure I've got an RCD inline for anything connected long term ... but as long as it is electrically isolated from the rest of the boat ....

I think I understand, the charger/240 supply has a trip switch on it! I thought that it was just the 240 volt supply. Oo-er, ours has a fuse and an RCD but no trip hence my suggestion.

dont worry, most modern boats dont trip if you switch the external power off and on, my bene doesnt
