Probably the most frustrating task I've tackled for.... er, 2 or 3 days.

Someone, somewhere, must have a good idea about removing the INNER section with the flange ( seen dangling on a cord ) and replacing it successfully with a shiny new valve assembly....

Before I give up and ask Milady for funds to buy a whole new 'rubber-dubber'! ( Is that 'fat chance' I hear from the wings...? )

You need to make a couple of cuts to the fabric to enable the inner portion of the valve to be removed.Insert new inner portion of new valve and make good with circular repair patch.Probably not what you wanted hear but its the only way

Hi have no experience, but could you use the old inner part and screw the new outer bit into it.. Have I missed something.

Good try, but no cigar.... 'cos the old inner part is now fairly well chewed-up by the appliance of brute force and ignorance. Besides, the new two-part device is similar but not identical to the old.

My best thot so far is to use a repair kit.... cut an 'ole large enough to pass a new inner bit, offer that up to the old and original right-sized hole, then screw in the outer, valved bit with some silicone sealant between to ensure a good seal.

I'd prefer a brand-new hole, with the option of sealing the 'cut' old one with the repair kit, but cannot see how I'd snip a perfectly circular 'ole exactly the right size.

I await 'flashes of insight and genius'... :)

Ok. Here's another. Bugger the old one, leave it there. Then try getting the new one in like you would a bicycle tyre over the rim. Do you think that would work?

Thanks, 'tqa'.

However, that's addressing only half the problem, using only half the replacement valave assembly. And, the valves I've bought are not quite identical to the elderly ones originally installed.

I've tried the tyre lever-and-lubricant technique. No joy, so it's 'RibStore' on Monday.
