We are taking the Enterprise dinghy to Kingsbridge over Easter, where's the best place to launch, either in Kingsbridge or Salcombe, or any dinghy club slips we could use? We are members of our local club in Suffolk.

There is a big, very well maintained public slip in Salcombe. Plenty of parking for cars and trailers. Very busy at times, so be prepared to queue.

From recollection it's well signposted. Roads into Salcombe are narrow, steep, and windy, so not for novice towers!

Make sure you don't accidentally tow into the town centre. It's bad enough when crowded just in a car, and there's a one way system as the road is so narrow. Not somewhere you really want to be trailing unless you know the area.

Can't comment on Kingsbridge, I'm sure there's a slip, but no recollection of details

You can also launch on the sandy beach at Southsands at Salcombe, but again a windy narrow, steep little road to get there, and is usually for small dinghys. Not sure how you'd get on there.

At Kingsbridge there is a slip at the end of the car park on the quay. Kingsbridge is restricted to about the top third of the tide but the slip is large and accessable. There are other slips round the estuary, it depends where you are staying etc.

If you want to go off the slip at Salcombe make sure that you have insurance. A few years ago I tried to launch our inflatable and they wouldn't let us as we had no cover then...fair enough i suppose, but it was a wasted journey

Salcombe is a great choice for a dinghy sailing holiday. Though pretty cluttered with moorings in the mid area the upper and lower reaches offer plenty of open water and enticing creeks.

There is a slip at Kingsbridge. It is at the far end of the creek side car park by the Tourist Info building. It's a bit less than half tide for a dinghy.

The Slip in Batson creek is as stated busy. It is accessable at all states of the tide though.

A small slip is at Whitestrand in the centre of the town next to the short term parking and the harbour office. It is accessable at all states of the tide

Launching is straight forward from South Sands Beach. There is some dinghy parking nearby.

There is no charge for launching. You will need insurance proof and to purchase a harbour dues sticker. These are available from the Harbour Office at Whitestrand or the Batson Creek Slipway. They are not cheap though I've not bought one for two years I think my last one was
£25 ish. This, being an annual charge, makes a quick daysail a bit expensive.

Boat parking spaces are often available at Batson. These have just been subjected to a doubling of charges but then so has the car parking. Some limited trailer storage can also be arranged. If your an early riser there is often some free parking at Batson village a short pretty walk from the dinghy park.

Chandlers and such like can be found in Island St.

Arrangements can be checked with the harbour offices on 01548 843791

Sorry if this message is too late but I can confirm that there is a large slip at the end of the Quay Carpark at Kingsbridge. I would think that with a dinghy it is useable from HW-2 to +2 at Springs and maybe for an extra 1/2 hour or so at Neaps. But beware, the concrete drops off suddenly near the Low Water line.
There is also a small slipway alongside the Public Toilets at the head of the creek but this is more difficult to access as it comes straight off the main road.
Finally there is another slip at the bottom of a steep and narrow drive on the right hand side as you go along the road from the town centre towards Torcross and Slapton. It is about a quarter of a mile past the Rivermaid Boatyard and is quite wide when you get down to it.
Hope you have a good time, I'd be down there myself only I've just got back from a sailing holiday in Italy.
