Dinghy camping

Roger is a real character, he puts a lot of sea miles under that 15 foot keel and makes some really interesting videos.
Hoping f or a nice summer and lots of nights out again this year under my tent at anchor or dried out somewhere quiet, peaceful and isolated. (y)

In my little keel boat, no bigger, smaller than that dinghy, it would be like sleeping in an uncomfortable coffin..

When I bought a yacht one of my main criteria was it must not feel like I'm camping - full standing headroom, no gymnastics to get out of bed, a toilet not a porta-potty, ability to make a cup of tea underway, somewhere to hang wet kit etc.

Economically dinghy camping is much more logical. Practically its a lot of faff. I'm a but surprised none of the big dinghy builders (or even niche ones) have come up with a really clever, low hassle design. I presume this means the current target market like making their own modifications etc.

Swallow Yachts Bayraider Expedition is excellent for reducing faff for camping. Having a cabin to sleep in (and no more) removes the need for a cockpit tent. My dad took great pleasuring in making a support for a bistro style camping stove so we can cook under the spray dodger. There’s very little faff and lots of fun. Sails well, draws a pixie boot so no need for a tender, just some creative anchoring with an anchor bungee.

Dinghy camping....?
