I see that we can now get YW delivered to our computer rather than letterbox. For those of us with a sub to the paper version can we change to the digital version? And are there plans to send out YM digitally?

Should be a plus for all those peeps that take exception to the advertising material that falls out of the packaging every month /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah - another burst envelope & chandlery catalogues over the doorstep this month...

I don't think you can turn off your paper subscription and switch to digital, but it is a cool service. You can write virtual "post its" on the pages and search by keyword through lots of issues to find the feature you're looking for.

As far as I know there is no launch date for YM yet, but I'd be surprised if it isn't available in this new format soon

Keith,

I was afraid you'd say that. Can you please remonstrate, on my behalf, with the powers that be that I for one would be a tad pissed off if I can't. And it doesn't help when you tell me that I'm continuing to pay for an inferior product either!

After all I have shown loyalty by signing up for a longish period and think of all the money that would be saved by not having to mint a paper version for me each month!

Chris, harumphing off stage left

I for one will not be bothering with the online version, like I haven't read trade mags such as Computing either.

You can't flick through the mag from back to front, looking for pretty pics etc.

also, it is a relief to read the mag while watching telly, sitting on the bog, or laying in bed, instead of looking into this idiot's lantern which I do all day !

Computer Active had a nice feature where they released a CD or a booklet annually for the subscribers of the special features that had been in the mag during the year. That way you didnt have to keep tons of paper or try to tear out help sheets.

If the mags released all the usefull bits like the RNLI sheets and the DIY pages and the special features like winterising or servicing your legs all on a CD it would be great.

Or

If subscribers had a password to a site that had all of the features to go and re-visit that would help.

Chris,

This is still an emerging technology for IPC and I will pass your feelings 'up the line'.

Fair points and good ideas. I'll send the feedback to the mag teams in the morning.

As I read mine in the hot tub I would need a waterproof laptop. Though more waterproof pages might be handy on YM.
