Hi,
I've just done a web search on Digital Yachts and by accident (I was looking for a manual online) I turned up this web page:

https://www.duedil.com/company/02282978/digital-yacht-technologies-limited

Which says that Digital Yachts went into administration in October last year.

If it's the company which makes the AIS stuff, then it's a great shame, because it good kit.

Does anyone have any further information?

Someone on here was asking recently about Raydirect as they were getting no response to their queries.
This would explain why.

The company's status is 'In Administration', with a team of 2 directors. Nicholas Heyes is Digital Yacht Technologies Limited's sole shareholder. They have no known group companies. Digital Yacht Technologies Limited have total assets of £0 plus total liabilities of £850,974. They owe £850,974 to creditors and are due £440,099 from trade debtors. As of their last financial statement, they had £17,864 in cash reserves. Their book value is £317,829, and the value of their shareholders' fund is £317,829.

the above link contains a "website Preview", but the website it links to is not Digital Yacht, but MESLTD.co.uk
Is there a financial connection, or is it just sloppy work by Duedil?

In the link and looking at the companies documents it shows MES as being renamed as Digital Yachts.
Previous Names:
05 Jan 2012 Marine Electronic Services Limited

It looks like there are two companies with very similar names, trading from different addresses, but both in the Bristol area.

Digital Yacht - company number 04838747, is marked a dormant, but is the same address as on the Digital Yachts website: http://www.digitalyacht.co.uk/contact_us.php

This company appears to be trading normally, so I don't understand why it's marked as dormant.

Digital Yacht Technologies Ltd - Company number 02282978, which was formally Marine Electronics Services Ltd appears to be in liquidation.

My concern is that I've just purchased a Digital Yachts AIS in February and I'm worried about guarantee issues.

Agreed 2 different companies. But why is Digital Yachts Ltd dormant? I notice their web site doesn't give a Company name under Contact Info. It states DIgital Yachts but not Digital Yachts Ltd. Could be worth a call.

That's a bit worrying - but glad I've found out now. MES has always been my first point of call for electronics - I bought a £300 VHF plus a pile of accessories from them only a matter of weeks ago. The web site appears to be still trading.

I have been increasingly seeing the "Cactus Nav" name associated with MES - perhaps there's some company-registration shenanigans going on where they're transferring the trading to a new name and ditching the old one?

Just spoke to Nick Heyes who was a little surprised! Digital Yacht is alive and well apparently - good job since we're specifying their equipment on GT Yachts..!

I note that the directors of catcus 020 (The new company combining cactus and MES mentioned in Talulah's post) and digital yacht are also both directors of Bridge Wharf Ltd., formerly "Cactus Communication and Navigation Ltd" and trading out of the same place on Caledonian Road which CactusNav used to have as their contact address. Clearly a connection.

Cactus & MES are one and the same company now. I suspect they will drop one of the names in time. Their advert in current YM is moving that way.

You can collect purchases made from either at SMG in Plymouth.

SMG is huge. Is there a connection between owners of Cactus/MES and SMG?
