Digital Yacht iAIS problems, Android devices

Evening All,

Purchased a boat recently, that came with a Digital Yacht iAIS wireless AIS receiver (and nmea server). I can get it to work on Apple phones fine. Android devices on the other hand, will not connect or sometimes even see the wifi network the device puts out. I've tried adding the network manually with no luck.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Has anyone got one of these to work with an android device? My android phone can see it, but doesn't connect (says connection failed), and the samsung tablet doesn't even see it at all.

I've since read up and found the issue. Android devices do not connect to ad-hoc WiFi networks. There is an update to the firmware of the device to change the WiFi mode from ad-hoc to access point, allowing Android devices to work.

The instructions are on digital yachts website, but there is a link in there to a download that has broken, so I've messaged them for the file.
