Digital TV \"revolution\"

Bought a LCD TV from ASDA a couple of years ago, as it has a 12 volt power input, and so works well on the boat with minimal storage. Coupled it to a stick on rubber TV aerial designed for a caravan and the signal reception is excellent... but......
When the analogue TV reception is stopped I will need a 12 volt Freeview digibox thingy.
Has anyone ever taken one to pieces?
( I am expecting that it too runs at low voltage 12 volt or below so it should not be too hard to convert it to low voltage use.)

Re: Digital TV \"revolution\"

I bought an 8.5 inch LDC TV from Maplins that also receives Freeview, for 99.99. So I've converted /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Absolutely magic. So I've gone digital. (and it will receive analogue channels a s well)

Re: Digital TV \"revolution\"

Check out a few makes /models of freeview receivers and youll find that most run on 12v already and are supplied with a mains adaptor as standard. Certainly apllies to the Phillips and Bush brands as I have both on the boat.

Re: Digital TV \"revolution\"

Good - exactly the same as the LCD TV which uses a mains transformer which outputs a 12 volt signal via flying lead with a 3.5mm jack plug on it
