Don't QUITE go back as far as ITMA but we were still using 78rpm discs when I joined a certain British Broadcasting Organisation and the BBC Gramophone Library (lovely name isn't it ?) wasn't buying stereo LPs because it was considered that this new-fangled technology wouldn't catch on with the general public. When stereo arrived in Radio 3, the then-Controller put the speakers on top of each other as he didn't like the wires trailing across the carpet in his office !!
