The holdings appears to be very good; the dark patches are only essence of seaweed, a very thin layer of seaweed debris on top of sand. There didn't seem to be any weed actually growing in the anchorage area.
The shoreline is stone and pebble, and I had doubts about the holding, but the anchor dug in first time, and a quick check revealed a sandy bottom.
I know, I know ....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif - nice anchorage - better keep it a "secret".

Good logical deductions, and well spotted - it's looking east, it's an island, and there's basalt over sedimentary. But not Islay or Jura - but you're really on the right track.
Good guess, more or less-ish right. Kerrera is probably just of sight to the left. There, that's a good hint - have your charts handy? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
This is looking more to the southeast;
No habitation, although, above, there are the remains of the walls of what would probably have been a small black house or bothy. So where were we?
Excellent efforts by Damo and tom26, but Silkie moved in for the winning shot. Yes, "the little bay north of Rubha nam Fear", Port Ohirnie (Port Odhar) on the SSE side of the Isle of Mull. Seems to be rather better sheltered than its open aspect might suggest.
