Got solid teak decking on swim platform but laminate on ply in the cabin which has had the varnish lifted by salt water not being wiped up. Can I use the Wessex stuff on that as well or is it a different process?
We use the Wessex cleaner on unvarnished teak only and suspect it won't penetrate varnished grain.
I guess the worry is that if used, it may penetrate where your varnish is missing, and pehaps leach under the varnished parts to darken the wood around the entry spot.......
May be worth removing all the varnish, to then clean and brighten using thie rproducts, then revarnish if you feel a need to do so.
Good luck
JOHN
Thanks John. The blistering is two easilt removed panels so a nice job for a winter evening in the warm at home. The boat is only 3 years old so the decking not hit by salt water is looking great still, however matching colour might be tricky if I don't follow the wxact same treatment. It defo has varnish or some kind of sealer on it now as noted from the blisters.
I think it's wirth a query to the manufactures to find how it was orginally treated and what products.
