Diesel smell solution

Hi all,

Got some diesel on my jacket (goretex) (present from wife) (bugger) today.

Just tried washing it out and stain has gone but smell remains, has anyone got an idea of the best thing to get rid of the smell?

Plenty of sailing especially in weather like this. Reriously it will probably fade over a while and anything other than a gentle was will most likely damage the fabric. Better smelly than leaky

Local pet shop. Get some Simple Solution Cat Urine Stain & Odor Remover

It's got enzymes and bacteria in it that eat smelly organic molecules, and works really well on diesel. Need to get the affected really wet with the stuff and then leave a few days.

Will the "Simple Solution...." get rid of the diesel smell in my bilges, including where diesel is soaked into my concrete balast?

How expensive is it?

Does Gunk get rid of the smell?

as long as they are really clean first, or it will just absorb into the dirt, yes it works well.

It should work well on concrete if you pour it on, as it will soak in and remove it as far as it can soak in, not just on the surface.

It's not instant though, you have to wait a few days for it to take effect

If you can position the fabric so the liquid sits in a thin layer on it for the first day, you'll get better results, then just leave a few days to dry out and take effect.

Following Brendon's tip last year I always give the boat a spray around with this when I lock up to leave the boat for a few weeks. It really works well and the boat has a fresh smell when I return.
