Diesel shut off valve

Hi all,

I'm trying to prepare my Hurley 24/70 (recently acquired) for a Boat Safety inspection. I'm a bit baffled by the diesel tank arrangement. There's a single plastic tank at the rear of the boat. There's no drain on it, but there's no requirement for that for the BSS.

There are two lines coming out of the top of it - one runs to the primary fuel filter, and the other doesn't pass through it (which I presume is a diesel return line). I can't find a diesel shut off valve anywhere - which *is* a requirement. Is it likely to be an anti-syphon valve in the tank - and if it is, what would I be looking for? If not, what kind of valve should I be fitting?

Cheers

Not unusual not to have a shut off valve as the tank is not gravity fed, but fuel is sucked out of the top by the engine. However, not too difficult to fit a valve in the pipework before the filter. Type will depend on your pipes - ASAP among others have a range of different types of valve. A normal ball valve is what I used.

I've fitted one on my boat due to surveyor/insurance demands. Bulkhead ball valve, I believe from Aqua fax (chandlery sourced it), with a nice sticker from ASAP supplies. Had to use some reducers as the only bulkhead valve was rather large for the job. Photos and details here.
