Diesel Rev Counter

Hi all

After converting from petrols to diesels the boat still has the petrol tacho's. Can these be converted in any way or are new ones required?
If new ones needed anyone know whats involved and where I can get a couple?

New ones required unless they are alternator driven.

ASAP Supplies have a very large range of tachometers, for both petrol and diesel, but none that will do either.

If you look at their site, and search for "tacho" you will see what I mean. In this case, it may be worth your while and phone them on 0845 1300 870.

I believe there is an American tacho that will do either petrol or diesel - ignition, pick-up or alternator, but cannot remember the make at this moment.

Strangely enough, looking through the WestMarine catalogue, they don't list any diesel tacho's - everything either outboard or inboard "gas" engines, 0-6000rpm.

My (older) VDO tach serves both spark and compression engines - I neede to add a "w" terminal to my alternator to drive it with the diesel though.
