On my last visit to Cherbourg - about 12 months ago - they were just installing the new diesel pumps.

Can anyone tell me about them, e.g. do they need cash ( euro notes ), English credit cards etc.? Or must it be French credit cards? Or even, is there a little man who "does" on the pumps?

Do they still operate on Saturday afternoons and Sundays? My memories of France is that it shuts for the weekend.

Also St. Vaast. Same there?

Any help gratefully appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

St Vaast

Easy access pontoon.
There is a slot for self service but I filled up and you can pay at office by cash euros or English credit card.
Even stayed late for me before he went to his lunch.
Office hours are long there including week ends due to lock gate opening.

You are probably aware the gates are free flow and much better than quoted in Almanac, link below gives times +/_ 10 mins

(Not been to Cherbourg this year yet due to a report of muggings over on the sailing forum, may want to do a quick search to learn which areas of Cherbourg you need to avoid.)
