Diesel prices in the Orwell/Stour

I shall be needing fuel tomorrow, so have just asked 4 marina's what there price is:
Going up stream
0.83 + 5% vat = 0.8715p /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

0.98 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

1.03 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

0.88p or over 200 litres 0.86p /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
they have just reduced the price today.

how do you get such a wide range of prices in such a short distance?

1.03 would be MDL wouldn't it?! No surprises there then. Spawn of etc etc.

I bought 1000 litres for work yesterday 57.5ppl plus VAT. So that is over 23ppl contribution?

Over 40% mark up - I wish I could put that on my prices.

So do I guess that if you're full when you leave Lowestoft you'll need less than 200 litres when you get here and therefore you'll be stopping off at the first place??

Just about to get in the car for the hour drive now.

Nope leaving half full and going all the way to Ipswich Haven marina @ 0.86 as i shall need about 400 litres by then.

I put some in at MDL the other weekend at 1.03 and I commented on the price - the fact that they put "ONLY" £1.03 on the price board rather piqued me. The chap serving said that they were selling "at cost" and hardly made a profit. I said if that is the case I will get my twenty litres per season with a jerry can from Tescos in Ipswich once Red Diesel is dissallowed as there was hardly an incentive tying up to his barge and walking all the way to the office if you want to pay by card. I would also get clubcard points too. He actually looked concerned - I dont think they considered that small boat owners like me can actually choose a land-based petrol station if we should so choose!

Just out of curiosity (in office and bored!), I just looked up on biolerjuice.com, the cost of 500L of red diesel delivered by tanker to a postcode on the Orwell. It was 60.82ppl + 5% VAT so 64ppl delivered.

Their "at cost" probably means that they consider that selling at anything less than their standard 50% mark up, is at a loss!

BYH 83p or 80p over 400 ltre's on friday, so not so bad I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
